Hello, I own a Ryzen 7 2700X. After attempting to overclock it to 4.3GHz using Ryzen Master, I realized the effort was wasted. I removed the driver and experienced some odd behavior—my system displayed a RAM size of 16GB at 3200MHz, but my actual RAM was only 2666MHz. I reset the BIOS to default settings, and since then it consistently shows 2666MHz. The processor continues running at 4GHz even when idle, and temperatures vary between 41°C and 65°C, reaching up to 78°C during gaming. Previously, with Windows 10, my idle and maximum speeds were around 30 and 65MHz respectively. What should I do now? The power plan is set to balanced, but nothing changes.
Check the default speed for these RAM modules. Are you aiming for 3200Mhz or need guidance to reach that frequency?
My RAM is running at 2666mhz, but I attempted to boost the CPU speed using Ryzen Master without success. After uninstalling it, my RAM unexpectedly reached 3200mhz. I then reset the BIOS, which improved performance. Currently, my RAM is back at 2666mhz, but overheating remains a concern—temperatures exceed 75°C during gaming, whereas with Windows 10 they stayed between 62-65°C, and with Windows 11 they are about 15°C higher whether idle or in use.
The Windows power plan is configured as follows: PBO status is not specified, temperatures for 75°C are acceptable but 10°C is a noticeable increase. When the plan is labeled "max performance," it should default to "balanced" for Ryzen processors to prevent excessive CPU speed when idle.
PBO is being activated in BIOS to enhance the processor, functioning like an automatic RAM overclock. This setting is stable and provides performance benefits, though results can vary—sometimes it improves temperatures and other times not so much. It could assist when the CPU operates at 4Ghz, offering a safer option to turn on.
I used AC syndicate for 45 minutes, temperatures stayed under 72 but 4ghz remained strong even during playback.
Checking feasibility depends on your GPU's capabilities and stability. A 2666MHz clock speed is quite high, but pushing it to 3000 MHz may strain the hardware or cause overheating. Always test incrementally and monitor temperatures.
