It’s generally safe to use a Ryzen 7 2700 with an Asus Prime A320M-K motherboard. The pairing should work well, and there’s no risk of overheating or damaging the CPU.

No, the A320 can't manage 2700. You'll need at least a top-tier B450 for that processor.

considering B series boards are essentially cheaper and boards like the B450 Pro4 excist there is no reason to ever do this. if you are skimping this hard on the motheboard you can grab a r7 1700 instead. with such low end mobos you will probably experience lower XFR clockspeeds. the VRM is also crap and the BIOS might be of an older revision and you need to update it to use 2000 series CPUs. there is essentially no reason to have A series boards.. if you by any chance are using an A series board, id highy suggest getting a B series board and a r7 1700 as that will cost about the same as a 2700 on its own Spoiler sorry for my slight rant. just dont use A series boards

well, it will handle it with no XFR. it is just that there is no reason to do this sort of combo

Sure, the VRM should work with the standard cooler, but it’ll likely overheat. The board’s lifespan isn’t very long, and the VRM might fail soon.

It wouldn't be wise. The majority of A320 boards feature limited VRM support, and many lack heatsinks on those units. Overloading the Voltage Regulation Modules can reduce their lifespan, and if they fail, the CPU could also be affected.
