Sorry, forgot to include a quote. Which model are you considering? Your 3800x at $250 from an AMD employee is a solid upgrade over the 3600 for gaming and video work. It offers better performance without the imbalance issues of a 3080.
I'd expect a big difference unless your 3600 was just a bad item. It should not exceed 5 FPS, and you should already be well past that threshold. The price is around 250$ since a friend works at AMD. That doesn't really make sense—they don't sell their own CPUs, o.o—but I won't go into it further. You'd have to wait a while. The only CPUs available would be the 5800X at $400, the 5900X at $550, and the 5950X at $800.
I use my 3800XT and it's functioning well for me now. I've gained two additional cores and a higher clock speed. My friend has many CPUs for engineering or similar purposes. Thanks for your assistance!
