I built a new PC with a Ryzen 7 3700X, it works normally for most apps but gets sluggish when opening Chrome or game launchers. I have an M2 NVMe SSD in the second drive of my X570 Aorus Master and a Samsung 970 Pro. The RAM is 32 GB DDR4 3000 MHz, which is plenty. Can you help me improve performance?

Slow means the browser takes a few seconds to load—about 2 to 3 seconds for Chrome. Even on high-end systems, it won’t appear instantly because the program feels sluggish.

Refers to Steam or Epic/GoG—standard behavior. Takes 10–20 seconds even on my i7. For Chrome, it’s a very slow and unoptimized experience. Consider using Waterfox or Firefox for quicker launches.

I experienced a similar situation two years ago. I upgraded from a 4770 32gb DDR3 SSD to a Ryzen 1700 32gb DDR4 NVMe. Java performance dropped noticeably. Build times increased, especially for Spring Boot and Apache servers. The app felt sluggish during interactions, though Windows responsiveness was only slightly better. Switching to an overclocked 8700k boosted everything significantly—compilation cut from over an hour to under three minutes. It greatly enhanced my workflow since I often had to recompile multiple times daily. I expected Zen 2 and 256-bit support would help, but for Java work, a Ryzen 9900k would be ideal. P.S., this is specifically about Java development; C/C++ developers might prefer different options.
