Consider testing the chip without overclocks set—only if it stays cool (about 10°C above ambient during idle, max load 70°C). Then upgrade to a better air cooler. A powerful fan cooler usually performs better than an AIO liquid one. This should help a bit.
I can't check the room temperature directly, but it's winter and it's unlikely to be near 31°C. A reading of 70°C for stock seems unusually high. I'm using HWMonitor and also tried HWInfo, but the temperatures stayed consistent. Thanks for the help!
Your system should be running in the low-30s when idle. Make sure your room isn’t acting like a heater. Check the Package Temperature on HWMonitor first. If you’re using Ryzen Master, close it before measuring idle temps—it usually keeps CPU usage around 10% on my machine. If that doesn’t help, run msconfig (via Start Menu - Run) and turn off startup items temporarily. Turn off any unused services not from Microsoft and restart. My goal is a fully idle setup. Some people report high idle temps while others have background processes running poorly. But with your low voltage, the cooler might be misfitting. The Wraith Spire is solid and should handle 1.35V before overheating. It’s best not to go above 80°C during stress tests like Aida64, especially when using CPU, FPU, or cache. At 1.25V, even 65°C feels too high.
Consider adjusting the aggressive CPU fan curve settings in the BIOS for better performance.
I completed several tests and spent a lot of time. First, I reset my BIOS settings. The case fans kept spinning at full speed. I used a Nanoxia Deep Silence 3 case with three 120 mm fans (maximum 1300 RPM). Two were front and one back. I turned off all startup options in the task manager and let the PC idle for a few minutes with 0% load, even though CPU activity sometimes spiked to 1%. After that, I ran the AIDA64 system stability test. Something odd happened—I couldn’t recreate the 41°C at idle initially. Here are my findings:
Stock Clocks, 1.25v (auto) Idle: 32°C, 1282 RPM (CPU fan)
Load: 61°C, 1880 RPM @3.7GHz, 1.18v Idle: 36°C, 1331 RPM
Load: 71°C, 2626 RPM
Later, after reinstalling the cooler and using less thermal paste, temperatures improved noticeably. At idle, they dropped from 32°C to 30°C (stock) and from 36°C to 33°C at 3.7GHz. Under load, they fell from 61°C to 59°C (stock) and from 71°C to 69°C at 3.7GHz. These readings look much better, right? Still higher than some reports, but my machine is definitely noisy with all fans running hard now.
This happened when I set RAM to run at 2996 MHz instead of 2133 MHz. Suddenly, temperatures spiked.

I’m not sure what to think. It seems a bit disappointing. When I search for temperatures at 1700 OC, the first result looks promising (51°C peak at 3.7GHz with 1.3v), but I’m not sure if it’s reliable or just a fluke.
