It seems challenging to achieve a quiet configuration on a 10900k when everything is left on auto. Even at full load, it would still draw around 250 watts, which is close to the stock level of about 160W. The IHS for Comet Lake performs better without offsetting that gap. Plus, Intel's performance isn't competitive anymore, so I suggest going with a 5900x configuration.

I noticed many benchmarks assume top-tier setups while I'm juggling multiple apps and services. The 5900x seems to handle heavy workloads better, but I'm curious—would adding more than two cores still make a difference? I'm using an old 4C/4T 4670K and think a bigger upgrade is necessary.

A few background jobs are needed with the 5800X. It manages them well. Unlike each task using a full core, this approach prevents one task from hogging resources. Keep in mind that constant disk access will still impact performance regardless of the CPU you choose.
