Not aiming for a full overclock. 1.35V static on Zen 2 is quite high. BZ had a 3700X at 1.375V and it struggled to run stock frequencies steadily.

That sounds concerning. I believe testing the multiplier alone while keeping voltages at their standard values could be safer. At least it avoids the risk of damaging anything.

He broke it in about three weeks, so it’s far from safe. Zen 3 appears to be handling it better at least—otherwise we’d likely see spam again on Reddit. We still can’t confirm anything over 1.3v static is secure. 1.45v single core and 1.3v all-core seem fine.

I thought everything would be fine since I used the same settings as other Zen processors. But everyone seems to say the new chips from AMD can't be overclocked properly even though they're unlocked. It doesn’t make sense to me why that would happen. Apparently, no safe voltage is known, and most people advise against manual overclocking. I’m confused because it feels like they’re limiting us in a way that doesn’t match what we expect. Maybe AMD is shifting to locked processors now. The whole Zen3 situation is really confusing for me. I’ll try it out and see how it performs—hopefully it’s fast enough even with factory settings.

The AGESA bios seem a bit inconsistent. Most cores lose the single-core boost (except the X570 Dark Hero, which is the last model I checked—this is the memory module you get when everything’s in stock). The CPUs come out of the box pretty close to their maximum. I’ve noticed some solid OCs on Zen 3 that Intel CPUs can’t possibly match—it’s just different from what we’re used to. https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/search?q=5800x I can reach the lower end of those multi-core scores (and those aren’t even strong for 5800x), but I can’t even detect the single-core numbers, which is just a bonus of having a 5GHz boost. Ultimately, I think it’s better if CPUs are closer to their maximum from the start, though tuning is still possible for those who want it.
