Hey everyone, I'm here discussing my brother's recent PC build. He got the Ryzen 5600X, a couple of 8GB 2x8 GB RAM, a Gigabyte Aorus B550M Elite, an SSD with 960GB, an XPG Pylon 750W 80+ Bronze PSU, an XPG Invader white case, and I lent him my RX 570 4GB for now. The main concern is the stock cooler—will it handle gaming and streaming? He doesn’t intend to overclock, so I’m checking if there are other ways to keep temps low without modifying BIOS or risking the warranty. Also, any tips for reducing heat during idle and load without affecting performance or breaking the warranty?
The stock cooler with the 5600X is sufficient for typical stock performance. To reach even lower temperatures, consider undervolting the CPU, boosting fan speeds, and enhancing case airflow.
Stock cooler seems sufficient for the setup. I've tested it on my 3600x without any problems. The main improvement with an upgraded cooler would be quieter operation, though the stock cooler already performs well for gaming. CPU temperatures usually stay manageable, and GPU fans tend to be louder during gameplay anyway.
Based on what I've noticed, only the 5800x has issues with the thermals, while the 5600x should perform fine. Reducing CPU voltage is a viable choice, but for now I'll keep everything stock. If he's not satisfied with the noise, we can revisit that later.
I haven't ever undervolted myself, so I can't give personal advice. I believe undervolting is generally safe if you attempt it, though it might not affect your system in a harmful way—just be aware it could cause instability or require a reset. I saw a video by 1usmus about an auto undervolter, but some users reported issues; it might be worth checking out if you're curious. There are likely many videos and guides available for future reference, but I'm confident the stock cooler will work fine.
