Hi There. I shared a post some time ago and gathered a few details, hoping others could help. I bought a Ryzen 5600X at a reasonable cost, but I’m not experiencing the performance boosts others claim. My previous setup was a Ryzen 5 3600, and I’m playing all games at 60 FPS at 1080p. I notice about 5 FPS improvements in games, while online videos show gains of over 15 FPS. I’m using an X470 Asrock board and am unsure if that’s the problem. If anyone has insights, could you please advise? I’m considering whether to return the CPU. I’ve enabled PBO in the BIOS and the CPU is now boosting to 4.6Ghz. Here are my specs: Motherboard, Asrock X470 Gaming K4 RAM, 16GB 3600Mhz GPU, RTX3070.
A CPU alone won't significantly boost your frame rate unless you were already limited by processing power. In general, you'll be more affected by your graphics card, so a quicker CPU won't make much difference. These tests are usually performed at low resolutions and detail settings to simulate a CPU-constrained environment, which highlights the impact of a faster CPU. In real-life situations, such improvements are rarely substantial.

These videos seem to be showing high settings without noticeable impact on performance.
Depends heavily on the game and your GPU. If the CPU can't supply data quickly enough (draw calls), the GPU might struggle too. This also happens with CPU-heavy games where processing takes too long per frame. A CPU upgrade can boost performance in such situations. However, if the game uses minimal CPU power or the GPU is near its limit, a CPU upgrade won't make much difference. For instance, to maintain 60 FPS you need roughly one frame every 16.6 ms. Both hardware must complete each frame in that time or faster. If your CPU is slow—say 20 ms per frame—you'll cap at around 50 FPS. Upgrading to a faster CPU will help it finish within the required time, raising your frame rate. But if the GPU is also slow (20 ms), upgrading the CPU alone won't improve things.
