I had a great launch day with 5950x and installed it on my MSI B550 Tomahawk. The processor performs well according to reviews, though I believe the Zen2 issue has resolved itself. I frequently encounter WHEA errors, but stability remains intact. Problems appear only after updating BIOS, installing fresh Windows, or applying the latest drivers. This wasn’t the case with my older CPU (3900x). My friends confirm it’s not unique to me. The same happens with MSI X570 and Asus TUF X570 models. Currently, only Aorus boards (X570 and B550) seem free from these errors, based on what users say. What are your thoughts? Will BIOS updates or AGESA get better soon?

Two bios ages with codes are available. Test 1.0.8.0 and 1.1.0.0 to see which works best.

1.0.8.0 has issues with RAM configuration, doesn't share working profiles from 1.1.0.0 - WHEA errors appear. These can be seen in HW Info sensor logs. They occur frequently during OCCT tests (as reported by OCCT) and under heavy usage, but also happen while using normally.

No blue screens possibly indicate a minor v-core positive offset might assist. (Usually linked to overclocking, not necessarily an OC situation, core or IMC could be involved.) Previously, adjusting the v-core or using a different memory helped. I’d opt for 1.0.8.0 and create a new memory profile that aligns with this revision despite the Whea errors. That would be my approach.

No blue displays. I changed memory modules and tested Ripjaws 3600 BDies at various speeds—3200 to 4000. My WHEAs stayed the same. I use standard CPU settings, but checked PBO as well; no adjustments needed. As I mentioned, I consulted five people I know. MSI and Asus offer WHEAs, while Gigabyte does not. This isn’t a large sample, but it gives some insight. I’ll consider your suggestion.

I reviewed this article, but it covers more than just 5000 CPUs—it also includes 3000-series chips. In certain situations, the CPU RMA resolved the problem. Of course, a fresh BIOS update to fix the issue is highly probable. Just take it easy and wait. (That’s why I avoid buying brand new gear right at release time)

When no BSODs occur but bus communication issues persist, I’m okay with that. I believe only the latest BIOS can address it—or mask the reports. I just wanted to note my observations.

I encounter lots of WHEA warnings when my PC starts for about two minutes then they vanish. It’s not a big deal (no BSODs or anything), but it feels odd. Searching it suggests a Ryzen issue, though the WHEA says "NVIDIA device." I’ve been using the GTX 1060 recently and haven’t checked for these warnings again, so I’m not concerned. The new GPU is working great!

Confirm running at 5800X. At 1800 FCLK (3600 RAM) I experienced 15 errors after a day of use, all related to bus/interconnect issues. Between 1900-2000 FCLK, hundreds of these errors appear after several minutes of operation. The Asus X570-I Strix is running AGESA V2 PI 1.1.0.0 Patch C. It's unclear if BIOS updates will resolve this problem.
