I’m purchasing a standalone Ryzen 5 Pro 4600G to get a solid CPU paired with a decent integrated graphics card, especially since components are hard to find. The main concern is its niche popularity—especially in the DIY scene—I’m uncertain about motherboard compatibility and driver support. I haven’t checked drivers yet, but I’m sure some options exist. For the motherboard, I’m hoping an older B550 or B450 model will work.
Only the b550 model is supported, and in the most likely situation you might need to upgrade the BIOS on it.
Some boards include a bios flashback option, which lets you refresh the BIOS using only the motherboard, power supply, and USB drive already downloaded with the newest version. In reality, the 4000 series is essentially an updated version of the 3000 series with APU support, so it likely doesn’t require further updates. Still, it’s a good idea to update it, as there’s a high chance it will be ready to run when you purchase it.
