Hello! I'm facing some challenges with this recent upgrade. The system runs smoothly under regular use, but reaching the full rated XMP speed isn't possible. Setting it to 3600 triggers memory training failures and forces a safe mode reset. I can hit 3200 max, which is the furthest I've managed so far—even with overvolting up to 1.45V didn’t help. All the detailed specs are available, but the key components are: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X with ASUS B550 TUF Gaming Plus ATX cooler, Crucial Ballistix 16GB (2x8GB) at 3600, and a Corsair CX600. I’m considering a manual memory overclock, though I’m not using Linux for calculations. This isn’t something I’ve tried before, especially on my older Z97 platform.
Review your motherboard’s approved vendor directory for memory to confirm compatibility. Experienced similar problems with my Aorus B550 and Corsair Vengeance RAM. Replaced them with Crucial from the approved list and it functioned perfectly. It came from an older BIOS version, which was essentially my first step; nothing changed. Sadly, no improvement possible beyond 3266mhz without crashing (even with restart count at 10). I looked on ASUS’ website (the helpdesk page is misleading—it’s a list, not a PDF)—but they label the Ryzen 5000 series as G-series APUs, which seems confusing. Regardless, they have many Crucial RAM options verified, matching my specs like 2x8GB 16-18-18-38 1.35V. The model numbers don’t match (ASUS lists BLE8G4D36BEEAK.M8FE1 vs. BL8G36C16U4B.M8FE1 on their site versus my sticks). I see nothing wrong with the RAM quality, so the big difference must be minor. And honestly, my Intel setup before this didn’t use XMP memory (1866 HX Furies), so I wasn’t expecting much change. It’s frustrating because a lot of the details here feel outdated or inconsistent for Zen 3.
