Ryzen 5 5600 paired with 4000MHz RAM
I'm checking for an Msi B550 gaming plus with a Ryzen 5 5600X. I have 4000 MHz CL18-GRP SKILL RIPJAWS and RAM, and I want to know if running at 4000 MHz with that Ryzen causes any performance drop. I searched online but didn't find clear answers—some say it might hurt performance if RAM exceeds 3733 MHz (its sweetspot), but others mention using YouTube doesn’t show any slowdown at 4000 MHz with this setup.
Start by questioning everything on YouTube. Generally, RAM should match the FCLK at a 1:1 ratio. Aim for 3600MHz to 4000MHz for optimal performance. Going below may sacrifice speed; going above risks async handling and possible drops. A 4000MHz setting is close to the limit but not common. You can lower the clock if needed, though async operation may reduce performance by up to 25%, depending on your situation. With the 5600X’s single CCD design, maintaining 1:1 isn’t critical—communication with I/O dies still matters more than multiple high-end parts.
