Hey everyone, I recently purchased a new CPU with BMT pins and had to send it back because the repair shop cut off several pins. I decided to take on the challenge and bought another one. After finding a donor for the pins, I installed them on my motherboard. However, it only recognizes one RAM slot and doesn’t allow using all 3200MHz RAM. Anyone have advice on which pins to check or what replacement might fix this issue? Thanks in advance!

I connected the pins using a soldering iron. The memory channels A and B have light and dark blue patterns on the underside.

Using a heat gun for soldering seems confusing—it fits well in the socket but creates a dead spot and limits the frequency to under 2400MHz. Edited March 29, 2025 by AlexKSrb

It shows a specific temperature curve during the first steps, and processors avoid operating above 90-100°C. A range of 260-300°C is necessary for the task, meaning taking your time could have caused some internal issues. That’s a risk to consider.

The entire soldering procedure involved applying heat to secure components. The temperature remained consistent around 200 degrees. New tin was not used during this process.

Possibly we triggered some internal processes because we exceeded 300 degrees.

It might have gone to a general repair place. A few people keep trying even without proper training, and it's common for items to fail.

We don’t usually find people in Serbia doing this before it reached me. The owner had it shipped with bent pins, took it to a repair shop, and they removed seven pins. My friend and I used a high-end heat gun at around 400 degrees, which might have damaged the inside. After cooling down just one pin, it seemed okay.
