Ryzen 5 4500 paired with 5700xt processor
CPU is a Ryzen 5 4500 Turbo, GPU is an XFX Radeon RX 5700 XT THICC III, RAM is 16GB at either 2400MHz or 3200MHz. Motherboard is B550 Pro. I made this build by mistake but it was affordable! Here are my questions:
1. Even with Turbo mode, does the CPU and GPU face a bottleneck? Some YouTube tests say no, while others claim yes—really confusing!
2. Is there a bottleneck between RAM and CPU? I thought I should pick the 3200MHz option because it has a RAM bottleneck (though I don’t know much about this).
The Ryzen 5 4500 offers gaming performance similar to the Ryzen 5 2600 in many scenarios. This makes it a sensible match with a 5700XT for most titles, though results vary based on the games and their settings. For single-player games at high resolutions like 1440p or Ultra, you’re unlikely to face CPU limitations. However, in demanding multiplayer experiences such as Warzone, Halo Infinite, or Battlefield 2042 at competitive settings, your CPU might become the bottleneck and slow things down. Regardless, adding 3200 RAM is highly recommended if possible. The 4500 features a dual CCX architecture, meaning two CPUs collaborate, and RAM speed influences how quickly data transfers between them occur. Higher RAM speeds will significantly improve performance in this configuration. (Choosing the Ryzen 5 5500 would still be beneficial, as fast RAM remains useful even with only one CCX, but it wouldn’t be as critical.)
