Hey. I decided to try some experiments on my R5 3600. I checked everything in Ryzen Master and the hardware info. Something odd happened—idle speeds and voltages look very different compared to clocks. Each run lasts around 30 minutes. I adjusted the clocks in PBO to run at 200MHz, but it still didn’t hit that speed even with strong cooling. When I used the stock settings, clocks stayed around 3.6–4.2GHz, while they usually sit near 3.975GHz. Voltages fluctuated between 1V and 1.475V, but averaged about 1.325V on the hardware info. With Auto OC and PBO, clocks reached 3.3–4.2GHz, voltages at 1.1V and 1.475V, averaging around 1.45V. MSI Gameboost from the BIOS kept clocks at 4.2GHz with voltages at 1.1V and 1.475V. No spikes above 80°C were recorded in AIDA64. What’s going on? Should I consider a manual overclock?
Interestingly, this works well. I don't understand exactly how it's handling it, but it's managing it.
I tried it with a 30-minute session across several tests. Aida 64, Cinnebench R15 and R20 loops, plus roughly an hour of gaming (Assassins Creed Origins and Ghost Recon Breakpoint). The peak temperature reached around 75 degrees. I’m using a MSI B350m Bazooka and ID Cooling SE 207 cooler. It’s performing smoothly without any issues.
You'll encounter the same clocks without issues, but speed will decrease. Try it out and observe. A billion-dollar firm isn't unaware they could have checked a lower voltage. They understand their components inside out.
