Hello, yesterday I installed a new PC and used my digital Windows key. Thinking it would work with my existing account, it didn’t. It requested my key again, so I switched back to Windows 8.1 Pro since that was the one I had. Now I keep seeing warnings about my CPU not being supported. Do these issues mean something real or is Microsoft trying to push a paid upgrade? If performance matters, would you mind seeing some benchmark comparisons to show how much the difference is? I’m mainly a gamer and don’t do heavy tasks like editing or photo editing.

It's mostly about the later updates, since I recall a particular Windows patch for versions 7 and 8.1 that marks your CPU as unsupported, even though it should work fine. Performance impact is unknown to me.
