Ryzen 5 2600X at 45c during idle with better performance than its base rate
Hey there, newcomer! I just set up my own PC and I'm still figuring things out. Here’s what I’ve got so far:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
- GPU: Zotac GTX 1650 Super Twin Fan
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H
- RAM: 2 x Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB
- Storage: Wester Digital 1TB SSD
- Case: Fractal ATX Mid Tower
- Power Supply: Corsair CX650w Bronze Series
When I checked idle temps, they hovered around 42°C and spiked up to about 50°C. Under heavy load (like playing Star Wars: Battlefront II on Ultra), the temps reached 73°C. That’s a lot—does that damage the CPU over time? Also, the base speed is 3.6 GHz, sometimes it jumps to 4.2 GHz. Why does it do that and what effect does it have?
Any tips or advice would be super helpful right now. I’m not sure if I’m overanalyzing, but I want to make sure everything’s okay!
