Hi, I’m looking to replace my Ryzen 3 1200 with a Ryzen 5 2200. The motherboard I have is an Asus Prime A320M-K. Can it support the new CPU? If so, will there be any performance impact, and do I need to update my BIOS? Thanks!
It works fine but the 2200 offers no speed advantage over the 1200, apart from its built-in graphics unit.
Update the BIOS using your existing CPU. In terms of performance, the difference between the Ryzen 3 1200 and the Ryzen 3 2200G won't be significant. The latter mainly includes the Vega8 integrated graphics. Since you already have a dedicated graphics card with the 1200 model, switching to the 2200G offers minimal advantage. Consider the 1600 "AF" or a second-hand Ryzen 5 2600 instead.
I don’t want to upgrade the Ryzen 3 1200 into a Ryzen 3 2200G. What I mean is switching from a Ryzen 3 to a Ryzen 5. Also, can a Series 3 Ryzen be used?

I'm sorry if it caused confusion. I thought a Ryzen 5 2600 was the right one, but it's actually a Ryzen 3 2200. My mistake!
Most Ryzen processors are compatible with the AM4 platform. You can readily replace any Ryzen CPU with your current one, as long as your motherboard supports it. A Ryzen 5 should work fine on a compatible motherboard.
