Ryzen 5 2600 MSI B550 Gaming Plus memory remains capped at 2000 MHz

Hello I am new to this forum, I just upgraded my mobo b450 to b550 while waiting on avaiable zen 3 CPU. I was able to post while using r5 2600, unfortunately evey time I try to "OC" my ram PC will not post, anything more than 2000 MHz and it goes into bootloop. Curentlly running MSi B550 Gaming Plus ASUS Radeon RX 5700 XT Dual Evo AMD Ryzen 5 2600 GOODRAM 32GB (2x16GB) 3600MHz CL17 IRDM PRO (on asrock 4pro I was able to set it up to 3400 MHz cl16) 650W powesupply Anyone have any idea if I can do anything to resolve this issue? Edit. I was able to OC to 3333mhz (I think that I will be able to get above 3500 stable) CL 16 tRCD 19 tRP 19 tRAS 36 tRC 56 I have no idea what could be the issue (CPU temp were aslo higher than on b450 but it seems to stablize itself) I will probably do more testing when I am not so bussy with work. If anyone have any tips it will be appreciated.

b550 functions only with third and fourth generation Ryzen devices; the 2600 won't work there, which could explain your issues.

He also has an R7 2700, but he doesn’t realize he needs a B450 or X570 since he wants to move into a 4th generation model. I don’t see why the B550s didn’t cover the 2000 series but it still works.

AMD said because lacking bios memory space. They had to make space for 3000 and 5000. So they deleted previous gen support. I don't know if this true or just a marketing ploy to sell 550 motherboards i mean 5000 cpu.

this doesn't clarify how the X570 handles multiple frequencies like 2000, 3000, and 5000, especially since the B550 only supports 3000 and 5000 while the 5000 series uses all CPUs at once. That seems inconsistent.

It's likely that all AM4-based systems aren't designed to work with Ryzen models, even though they might be compatible in theory.

They mentioned Zen 1 should fit the B550, but AMD released a statement saying otherwise. I’ve also heard it might be feasible to run Zen 3 on the B350 if I locate it again—please let me know if you find it.

The mobile manufacturer was pleased to back Gen 1 with the B550, anticipating that older users would opt for the newer cards, which benefits them. However, this hurts AMD because it reduces demand for the 5000 model. AMD generates minimal revenue from motherboard sales since they don’t produce the chipset (ASMedia did), making their situation even tighter.

Just wanted to let you know I planned to run thorough tests, but the 3200 MHz clock speed was my maximum. The data sometimes became inconsistent. Work, holidays, and Cyberpunk 2077 are eating up all my time. So unless I do more testing, it’ll be 2021. Merry Christmas (or whatever you're celebrating) and happy new year 2021 everyone!
