Ryzen 5 1600X oc help
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for the optimal temperatures and frequencies to keep my Ryzen 5 1600X running smoothly. Right now I'm using prime95 at 3.90ghz with 1.35V, and under stress tests the temps can reach 86 or 87°C. I'm using a watercooler, though it's not fancy. Could you share which temps are ideal for synthetic load? Also, what frequency should I target? Should I consider lowering the vcore if I stick with that speed?
My setup includes: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X, G.Skill TridentZ RGB 16GB DDR4 3200MHz, 250GB SSD + 1TB HDD at 7200RPM, MSI B350 TOMAHAWK ARCTIC, GTX 1070 ZOTAC AMP, Coolermaster Masterliquid Lite 120, and a Thermaltake Powerhouse Grand Plus RGB 650W with 80+ Gold rating.
AMD suggests a limit of 75c, but remember the 20c that some processors display when the BIOS or software isn't properly adjusted. HWinfo provides the correct offset and can be found at the given link. The CPU also indicates the later temperature measurement point.
AMD suggests keeping it under 75c but remember the 20c that some processors display even if core temperatures are higher. This is because BIOS and/or SW might not account for a 20c offset. HWinfo provides accurate offset details at CPU(Tctl) and CPU(Tdie). The temperature readings also indicate the actual measurement points, which should be monitored.
I have adjusted LLC to mode 4, set vcore to 1.35V which gives 1.36V in cpu-z, clock at 3.85ghz, and verified with prime95 for 5 hours and 30 minutes without any issues. The maximum temperature reached was 82°C with an average of 77°C. This setup appears safe for gaming.
