Hey everyone, I'm starting my new PC after years of gaming on an FX4100. Just got a Ryzen 5 1600 and saw mentions about its Zen+ 12nm refresh. I thought it was just a temporary fix until I could upgrade later next year, but if it really matches the performance of the 2600, I might stick with it for a while. Any thoughts on what this refresh means?
The 1600 represents the initial generation, not the update. The 2600 is the latest refresh.

I’m not familiar with the refresh updates, but I don’t think upgrading to the 2600 makes much sense unless you need better performance. The 1600 offers a noticeable improvement over the FX lineup and might keep you ahead for some time. The AMD 4000 series 7nm refresh is expected next year, so you might want to consider that upgrade then.
