Ensure you upgrade to the newest stable BIOS while your 1700x remains installed. Installing a 3600x without an update will likely cause issues. I prefer making changes through the BIOS, though I haven't used Ryzen Master yet. Choose what feels more comfortable.

3600 belongs to the third generation, not the second. You should update the BIOS on that X370 before removing the 1700 module, since the current BIOS may be outdated and won’t support the new Ryzen chips well. Generally, overclocking isn’t very effective here—expect around 300 MHz unless conditions allow turbo boost. The easiest way to overclock is via Ryzen Master. If that fails, you’ll need to restart and set new values. BIOS settings are more complex but achievable.

3600 belongs to the third generation, not the second. Why do you need a 3600x size? You could save the cost and purchase a 3600.

Updating bios comes first on my to-do list. Zen 2 feels like a newer version, while Ryzen 2000 seems like a simplified Zen model. I’m wondering if the turbo boost performance might differ between X370 and X570 boards, though I’m not sure.

You have the flexibility to perform both full-core and single-core overclocks on that board, allowing you to adjust the clock speed according to the number of cores utilized.

In short, keeping the BIOS in normal mode while using Ryzen Master should work fine. You don’t need to switch it to ASUS Optimal for performance.
