Ryzen 3 features Power Boost 2 that lifts my 3600x to 4.3ghz single core, surpassing my 4.15 all-core overclock. Under heavy Cinebench R20 load it maintains around 1.319v at 4.1ghz all-core, while single core delivers 1.431-1.456v at 4.3ghz. Based on what I've heard, this performance is quite strong for everyday tasks and shouldn't cause major concerns. Since my CPU isn't among the best in its class, a slight drop to 4.15 basic overclock at 1.35v seems reasonable. I've noticed online that around 1.4 volts during idle and short bursts is typical and safe, though I haven't encountered much about 1.4+ volts for full single-core runs. Consider your setup and feel free to adjust if needed.

Variation of PBO or custom version from MSI? You can always reset the stock if needed. Using a minor voltage adjustment tends to be advantageous.

Precision Boost 2 is the standard AMD boosting option. Precision Boost Overdrive involves adjusting PPT limits and other settings. Regarding the stock 1.431-1.456v performance under single-core stress, let me know if you need further details.

This topic has sparked a lot of discussion lately. There are some personal stories suggesting these high voltages might be harming the chips early on, but it's also a known behavior of Zen 2 right from the start. Voltage levels aren't steady, which could be the main distinction. Running the system at stock voltage—around 1.1 to 1.4 plus—appears to keep things stable, with no big recalls or failures reported. Most users seem to handle it well unless you push the voltage higher than recommended.
