Consider your needs and budget. The i5 9400F is slightly cheaper at around ₹2000, while the Ryzen 3 3200G offers better performance for most tasks. Choose based on what matters most to you.

I’d choose the 9400f personally.

The price of an i3 10100 varies, but it's a solid choice depending on your needs. If you require integrated graphics, the 9400f might be more suitable despite its current gaming performance issues and lack of an integrated GPU.

Certainly, it works best with an RTX 3080. If the i5 9400f has trouble, that’s why.

If you don’t need the integrated graphics, opt for an i5 9400—it’s nearly identical in cost!

An unusual pairing of two CPUs to evaluate. The 3200G features four cores and four threads, with built-in graphics suitable for simple tasks or light gaming—ideal as a temporary solution while you upgrade to a dedicated graphics card. In contrast, the 9400F offers six cores and six threads but lacks integrated graphics, so it depends entirely on a separate graphics card for operation. A proper recommendation would require understanding your overall PC setup and intended usage.

They perform fairly consistently, with the 9400 sometimes leading in tougher scenarios because of more real cores and extra cache, while the 10100 tends to shine in lighter thread games thanks to its higher overall frequency (3.9ghz vs. 4.1ghz all-core). If you're willing to invest in 9400F models, opting for the 10400F would be a smarter choice—it outperforms both options. To sum up, unless you want the built-in video from the 3200G, the 9400F will always be superior in most cases. Unless you're considering a progression path.

You're thinking about using a GPU with an Intel Core i5-1050.

The 9400f faces challenges because it only has six cores. The 10100 tends to be more affordable while offering four cores and eight threads, which helps prevent the 9400f from running out of resources during games that overload its six cores, leaving little room for Windows or other tasks. Those additional threads make a big difference in keeping performance stable and avoiding crashes.

For immediate use of a discrete GPU, opt for the 9400F. Yet the other commenter notes that a 10100F setup could be more advantageous in the long run if it doesn’t cost significantly more, since it offers similar performance to the 9400F while providing a clear upgrade route, whereas the 9400F is limited by its outdated socket.
