Ryzen 1700 Speed issue
Ryzen 1700 Speed issue
The problem I'm facing is that I've set my Ryzen 1700 to 3.8ghz, and both the BIOS and Task Manager display 3.8ghz. However, when I check CPUID, it shows the cores are running at 1550mhz. Temperatures remain stable between 50-60°C under load! Voltage is at 1.4V. The system runs smoothly with MSI Tomhawk, Ryzen 1700 stock Wraith cooler, an EVGA 600W power supply, a GTX 1060 with 6GB RAM at 2933mhz, 16GB Corsair RAM at 2933mhz, and a Samsung Pro EVO SSD. The build is new, so I'm unsure if the issue lies with the software or Windows affecting my performance. It seems like my PC isn't working as efficiently as it should, though it feels unusual since the temperatures are normal. Also, I updated the BIOS to the latest version right after installation! When I first checked CPUID, it showed a max load of 380MHz but then dropped to 1550mhz and stayed there during gaming. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
The CPU increases its clock speed based on the workload, you can observe the clock rising to 3.8 GHz when starting a game on the desktop while the CPU is active. You can run several programs and open a browser.
Ensure your Windows power profile is configured for high performance. If not, adjust it to a lower setting such as 'balanced' or another CPU-friendly option. I changed the profile to high, and all cores on my R5 1600x are now operating at full PELT.
