Ryzen 1700 OC paired with Taichi, performance hit.
I have been reading and trying every Ryzen post but having problems...
Here's what I have, have done and what's happening:
PARTS
CPU: Ryzen 1700
MOBO: Asrock Taichi X370
RAM: G.Skill Trtident Z (16GB x 2) F4-3200C14D-32GTZKO (B-die)
BIOS: 3.2
PSU: Corsair CX600M
COOLING: Noctua (not sure of the model number, with push-pull two fans)
OCCT testing
Default BIOS settings (No OC) - no crash, runs fine
Any CPU freq change over stock speed (just CPU speed increase, no other changes) - crash
Any CPU freq change over stock speed with voltage increase (1.35V) - crash
CPU voltage, LLC, SOC change - crash
Tested
PSU swapped with a new one but same problems
MEMTEST done with no errors
Disk checked with no errors
AMD latest chipset drivers installed
While test is running and before crash happens, temps are well below the max temp (in 50s, 60s, 70s depending on voltage)
I am not sure where to go from here.
I am debating whether to test with one RAM but if MEMTEST shows no error, I assume they are good?
By the way, the system is about 8 months old. I have been having a lot of BSOD with various error messages so I am starting from scratch to see whether the settings were wrong or parts are dying.
Thanks!
Consider using a different power supply if you can. Alternatively, returning the product and CPU under warranty might be an option. The PSU model is listed in the post, and I’ve already swapped it out with a new one. 😉
I’m trying to explore all possibilities before considering an RMA for the motherboard or CPU, as that would lead to significant downtime.
Recent testing shows everything working fine: I kept all BIOS settings unchanged, raised the frequency to 3600, and even at the default CPU voltage (about 1.175), the system runs smoothly with OCCT.
The configurations I'm applying in my Taichi to achieve 3.9GHz are as follows.
