Disclaimer: Please be patient, I’m quite new to overclocking lol.
I want to increase the performance of my Ryzen 1600 to around 3.7 or 3.8. Before doing this, I tested the Prime 95 blend test at stock settings to check its behavior. I ran this for about two hours—possibly longer—and the highest temperature reached was 60°C, with stable performance between 58°C and 59°C.
Now I’ve overclocked it to 3.8, setting the CPU core voltage to 1.35, RAM speed to 2400MHz, and DRAM voltage to auto.
I’m running another blend test at full load, but in Task Manager it only shows 36% CPU usage.
The maximum temperature recorded was 51°C during steady operation at around 50°C. If you need, I can share a screenshot of the core temperature or use a hardware monitor app to help resolve this issue.
Honestly, I’m trying it by trial and error—any advice would be really appreciated!

If the score was 1114 it doesn't indicate throttling... my thought is you've set prime96 to use just 4 CPU cores. Consider switching to 12 for full performance. However, it's unnecessary to have all Ryzen stable at 3700 without overvoltage.

36 percent? CPU is it already throttling?

36%? Is the CPU already throttling? If we need to note that the CPU speed is currently at 1.37 ghz and its base speed is 3.2, even without overclocking it, it's 3.8.

jcheath6000 :
36%? CPU throttling detected already?
It seems worth noting that the current CPU speed is only 1.37 ghz, which is its base speed. Even without overclocking, it's at 3.2 ghz.
Looks like a poor overclock. The core(s) are being throttled. Are you using Ryzen Master?

If we need to mention the CPU speed, it's only at 1.37 ghz right now. It's base speed—overclocking is at 3.8 even when not overclocked. It seems like a poor overclock. The core(s) are being throttled. Are you using Ryzen Master?
I don’t use Ryzen Master, I just adjust settings in BIOS.

Have you observed any cores failing in P95? Also monitor the individual core clocks to determine if they are all decreasing in frequency or only some.

Have you observed any cores failing in P95? You should also monitor the individual core clocks. Check if they are all decreasing in frequency or just a few. Now that you mentioned it, yes—they have all dropped in frequency since I performed the stock prime 95 test. From around 3000 some odd MHz down to now 1550 MHz.

Yes, that's limiting performance. Consider raising the voltage slightly. 1.35 is the recommended upper limit for longevity, while 1.45v is the commonly accepted maximum for most enthusiasts.

Yes. That is throttling. Consider raising the voltage slightly. 1.35 is AMD's recommended maximum for long-term CPU health, while 1.45v is the commonly accepted upper limit among enthusiasts. Should I attempt 1.4 and if it persists, increase to 1.45?
