You're looking to upgrade with a Ryzen 1500X and GTX 1660 Super combo. For the Java edition, expect solid performance—typically around 60–80 FPS on mid-to-high settings. Please share your current settings so I can help fine-tune them. Screenshots of your configuration are welcome!

The 1500x is an older CPU, originally a quad-core model. Today you should aim for at least six cores. Consider purchasing Ryzen 3600 deals or a new 5600. Alternatively, the Intel i5-11400 offers flexibility. It's hard to predict exact frame rates, but with default Minecraft Java settings, 1660S, 16GB RAM at 3000MHz and an i5-9600KF, I achieve nearly 500 FPS. Using OptiFine pushes that to over 4000 FPS.

Sure, around the 1500X price range you might consider the Intel Core i5-13600K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. Both offer strong performance for gaming and productivity.

The 3300x offers significant speed improvements over the 1500x and is much more recent. Your friend seems fine with just four cores since the 3300x also provides that, though six cores are typically suggested for gaming today. Still, it should handle Minecraft well.

Minecraft remains largely focused on a single core, especially for the Java version. Performance expectations vary, but 60 frames per second are easily achievable.

Optifine clearly enhances performance significantly. Compared to my current setup—a dual Westmere Xeon with a 1.5GB GTX 560—I can achieve over 200 FPS in some scenarios, reaching at least 100 FPS. Without it, the system falls short of 60 FPS.

OptiFine delivers outstanding performance. On my desktop it boosts frame rates by around 80%, while on my laptop it allows smooth operation with both iGPU and dGPU, maintaining hundreds of frames or limiting to 60 FPS without overheating.
