I'm thinking about purchasing Ryse though, but my hardware isn't powerful enough for a strong GPU or much memory. I've watched clips showing it working on a GTX 460, but only the 1GB version and it always used up all the VRAM. I understand CryEngine does a good job conserving memory and letting games run on many systems, but I'm concerned it might not work at all or if it does it could be very slow. I'm trying to play it at low settings and at 720P, aiming for around 30 FPS without freezing or crashing like Skyrim when VRAM runs out.

It would likely appear poorly due to limited VRAM usage.

Your GTX 460 should work just fine with low settings and 720p. The graphics will appear quite poor, but it’s likely you’re aware of that. You should manage medium performance easily, and possibly even high settings.

It doesn't matter how it appears, I'm excited to play the game because it looks appealing.

It might not work due to the current focus on high-end graphics and 4K resolution, which I don’t own, suggesting my GPU could be quite slow.

But you claimed you don't mind its appearance but still appreciate its visuals? Haha, that means you enjoy the gameplay! The ideal fix is to purchase the game and test it on the lowest settings, then gradually increase the settings until you feel satisfied with how it runs.

Apologies for the delayed reply, but yes, it should work well at 720p with low settings. The system specs act more like recommendations than strict rules—my 9500 GT/E5300 setup would still struggle to run BF3 smoothly if the requirements weren't met.

I’m sure it can run smoothly if the hardware supports it. My experience with BF4 at 1080p on a GTX 460 was solid—low settings gave me around 40 to 60 frames per second. I haven’t played any CryEngine titles, but I think they’d work well at similar resolutions and settings.

It could seem nice, but it's a QTE challenge with intense blood effects.

If it helps, I managed to play Ryse on my laptop using an Intel HD 4600 at 1024x768 with a 50% reduction. It didn’t seem bad—though it might have looked poor. It ran at about 30 frames per second most of the time. On my desktop, with a GTX 650, it worked smoothly at 1280x960 resolution. Overall, it performed well for my needs when I kept the settings low.
