Rx 580 Auros continues operating efficiently at temperatures above 80°C.
hello there! recently purchased this gpu from a used market. temperatures were consistently reaching over 80 degrees during auto fan operation, even with an 80% fan curve setting and the cheap gd900 thermal paste. tried the original arctic mx4 2022 but still struggled to lower temps to 80 or below. if airflow in the case is limited, it’s not a major issue on those sides. let me know what you think or how you’d like to proceed!
My XFX 580 resembles this model. It frequently exceeds 80 when using new paste and pads. I just approved the purchase and continued with it. It was acquired from a miner at a discount, so... winter is inevitable. It functions properly and appears to enjoy it.
It seems you're noticing a small adjustment in performance and temperature. Reducing the maximum clock speed or power by 10% typically results in a 5% drop in performance, while also lowering the cooling requirements slightly.
Yeah, forgot to mention that. If I lower PL ~5-7% in afterburner the card temps stay below 80. Fans on the XFX model are pretty terrible. No chance you can stand the noise at 100% so that's not an option for me. Haven't tried playing with undervolting. Supposedly it can help a lot with RX480/580 temps
Uncertain due to lower voltage causing faster clocks, which means more power up to PL. At a fixed power level, you'd experience similar high temperatures. You don't even need soldering—just remove fans and the plastic casing, then attach NF-12 fans. If connecting fans isn't possible, mount them on the board and use Fancontrol to manage GPU temperature via fan speed.
