I'm handling this for my girlfriend since I just purchased her a new PC. She's experiencing serious frame drops in Rust when running at high settings on powerful servers for a brief time. After about an hour, the performance plummets to around 40 frames, dropping further to 35 near certain areas like missile silos and large monuments. The system is stable—CPU stays under 60°C, fans are working properly. She runs Rust at 90-100 FPS on maximum settings for short bursts, but it becomes extremely unstable afterward. The PC specs are: RTX 3080 Gaming PC, AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6 Core, B550 chipset, PNY GeForce RTX 3080 10GB, 16GB 3200MHz RAM, 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD, Corsair Crystal 280X case, 650W PSU, WiFi, and it's running Windows 11 Home.

If you have any advice on what might be overpriced or need help improving her setup, feel free to share.

Here’s the link to the prebuilt if you want more details:

I would start by replacing the PSU with a high-quality 850W PSU.

The precise model of the power supply is essential. Understanding its specifics and age helps determine if it’s the source of the issue or just a contributing factor.

What I was entering was mostly what I had in mind. It seems like you're saying it's probably not the issue at all, just reinforcing the same point.

I'm really not confident about why, in 2023, we still need to emphasize how crucial, actually, the power supply is—possibly the single most important factor right now. Yes, other aspects matter, but without a solid, dependable power source, everything else falls apart. A $600 motherboard is completely useless if paired with a terrible PSU, and many power supplies are just broken no matter the brand.

I truly value your reply, though I find myself puzzled by your comments on PCs and the idea that this "basic" information is redundant. Still, I respect your response and plan to purchase a reliable power supply. Thank you!

I wasn't really aiming to address this directly, were I, truly. It was just a broad remark. I completely understand wanting to assist anyone seeking knowledge or trying to fix something, which is exactly why we contribute our time online. I assure you, it's not about making casual comments about others.
