I've been using Rust for a while (about 1500 hours) and my FPS has stayed low. People suggested Unity only uses four cores, so I tried disabling some to use just four at a time. That helped a bit but my FPS remained around 15-30 and the sense felt weak. I went back to using all six cores and it still didn’t improve much. Before making these changes, I was running at 50-60 FPS, so I’m not sure what caused this drop. My system specs are: Ryzen 5 1600, 1660 Super, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD. A quick update would be appreciated.

It varies based on the Unity version being used. Unity usually aims for an OpenGL ES2 setup to work smoothly on mobile platforms. If a different profile is chosen, performance may drop significantly on Android compared to iOS or Windows/Mac. Beyond that, Unity isn't particularly efficient as a game engine, and certain choices can hinder performance across various CPU/GPU configurations. For example, I've encountered indie titles with framerates below 10fps even on a GTX 1080, mainly due to Unity's single-threaded nature—most tasks run on just one core, limiting multithreading benefits. The networking code can also cause lag if not handled carefully. You might want to test another game to see if the issue persists; if so, it could point to a problem with your PC setup rather than the engine itself.

I've experimented with different games, and a few appear to have lower FPS than expected even after adjusting core usage settings. It's unclear why this occurs once the changes are reversed.

You might want to inspect the CPU cooler or examine the mounting area, since uniform performance across various games often indicates thermal throttling. If not, it could mean background software is consuming cycles.
