I've just started exploring the PC scene after using Windows XP. Rust isn't known for its optimization, and when my FPS drops below 60, it becomes clear where the performance problems lie. My machine is an i7 87C1170 with an 1070ti GPU and 16 GB RAM. After tweaking some settings, I've managed to lower CPU usage from 65% to around 50%, with the GPU maintaining about 75% utilization (100% when in base mode). The RAM stays consistently at 12 GB while only 4 GB is idle. Apart from upgrading parts, I'm unsure what else can help boost my FPS. Recently, I switched to a larger Samsung EVO 860 500GB SSD, which has improved the situation. Any further tips or advice would be appreciated—my monitor runs at 144Hz and I'm eager to see improvements.
Are you using the newest drivers? I don't even recall the last time I played Rust, but I'm sure it was running smoothly at more than 60 FPS on my R9 290. That's significantly faster than your 1070Ti by a noticeable margin. Also, GPU utilization should consistently stay between 95 and 100%. It's usually the CPU usage you want to keep under 80-90%.
