It doesn't really matter which medium you use—CD or DVD—the installation process will be the same. What matters most is having the correct software and a stable system.

They can't store it on a CD because CDs typically lack sufficient space. On average, a CD offers around 700MB. An ISO, however, requires approximately 4*GB.

CD space is roughly correct, though a standard Windows 8/8.1 ISO usually stays under 4GB. Basic DVD-Rs generally cap around 4.7GB.

You can divide the Win8 into smaller versions for CDs by employing the DISM tool, which is included in their Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK). Simply install directly from the DVD or via USB.

I realize now based on what I remember from doing it repeatedly. The size of the file is quite noticeable.
