Hi, I noticed your Lenovo Z580 runs a second-gen i3 processor, has 4 GB RAM, an NVidia GT630M GPU, and a 500 GB SSD. Over the past four years you've kept it updated to get better performance, but lately it's running sluggishly—especially when booting or installing software. The NVIDIA driver install took nearly five minutes, and the startup feels slow with a couple of minutes on the welcome screen before loading desktop icons. Even though RAM and CPU usage aren't high, web browsing and media play are still lagging. What could be causing this?
Consider your budget and needs. Increasing RAM to 8 gigabytes might be better if you want more performance, while downgrading to Windows 7 could simplify things if you're not using advanced features.
It's strongly suggested to perform a fresh installation of the operating system. For assistance with the procedure, check the link in my signature or let me know!
You wouldn’t need a RAM upgrade for basic use. For Windows, original Windows 7 is recommended if you’re keeping the laptop, but Windows 10 is a solid choice now.
