I've found ways to make Sims 2 function on Windows 8 despite the official claims. Adjusting compatibility settings and running as admin helped temporarily, but installing expansions caused issues. You might need alternative methods or patches to resolve the conflicts.

Sims 2 runs smoothly on both my W8 models. It performs better than Sims 3 since it includes Vsync and doesn’t exceed 300 FPS. (Actually EA, there’s a strict limit at 300.)

It just stops working, I'm not sure what else to try. I've already tried that, it didn't help.

The modded version of Minecraft featured an interesting limitation when Vsync was active—it would only handle 60 resources per second. It was a unique experience, especially when dealing with large numbers of assets.

theres an issue between sims2 and modern hardware, usually causing it to force itself to minimum settings. never heard of it crashing tho... are you using a boxed copy or the origin version?

I’ve usually had significantly improved backward compatibility in Windows 10 compared to Windows 7, which is a bit surprising yet pleasant.

Really, for Sims 3 a cap at 30 would suffice... it’s not as if most players have computers that can handle that. I checked the forums about the VSync problem once, and someone said they can’t get the game running under 300 FPS. The whole place felt like “suuuuure” in pre-rendered contexts, right? In the end, the really toxic part of the community made everything worse for me, even with single-player.
