I’m looking to understand why my 3600x is overheating. After testing Cinebench, temperatures reached 82-83.56°C with turbo fans on. The CPU stays around 50-55°C during idle. My room is about 20°C. The boost frequency sits near 3,950MHz. I’m using a 120MM Corsair AIO cooler and haven’t enabled any auto-overclocking software. I also have a Cinebench score of 8551 for multicore performance. I was thinking about undervolting but wanted to come here first.

It could be just the 120mm Aio. Try reseating the cooler and observe the results. If nothing changes, consider undervolting by -0.055 initially, then reduce by 0.005 until Cinebench fails or you encounter a blue screen.

Both tubes are warm, but not all at once. The radiator also gets hot. A 120mm model performs similarly to an affordable single tower air cooler.

The radiator feels mildly warm. The tubes are just a bit hot, yet still manageable.

Would you need to put more thermal paste during reinsertion? I haven’t had it on me lately—my build was made about three years back.

Doubt it’s a CPU seating issue unless it shifted at some point since this was my first build but it was done with a local PC technician who walked me through everything. If it is noteworthy with the panel open file dropped to 45C. EDIT: Last dust cleaning was probably mid last year.

Temperatures are moderate rather than low, and this makes sense given Prime95's demanding nature. Reducing voltage by 0.1v should be straightforward. Verify the results with Cinebench and adjust the offset accordingly if performance drops.

Are your system settings using the standard BIOS values? Have you experimented with -0.05v?
