Running modern games on an RTX 3080 with 20-30 FPS is achievable.
I upgraded my RTX 1070 to an RTX 3080 a few days back, but the FPS remained essentially unchanged in various games. MSI afterburner indicates a GPU bottleneck, with the GPU consistently at 100% usage and CPU usage staying between 10-20%. Compared to the 1070 (23 FPS) and 3080 (24 FPS), the performance gap is minimal despite the significant hardware upgrade. This isn’t the same as when I achieved around 110 FPS; now I’m consistently getting 90 FPS or less in most modern titles. It seems something is wrong. I’m uncertain about the issue and don’t know where it lies.
It's unusual, but I'm not seeing any issues. I'm using a 3080 with a 7700K OC'd to 5.0GHz and achieving significantly higher FPS than expected, so it seems my CPU isn't limiting performance. The PSU is 650W, which is above the minimum recommended for a 3080 at 750W. I'm curious if others adjusted their settings similarly. Did you forget to set a FPS limit in Rivatuner?
