Hello! I'm facing a major issue. Every time I try to set up an operating system on my PC, it ends up in a 9700k with an update from a previous model. On Windows, I encounter various problems like machine check exceptions or uncorrectable errors, while in Linux I see different messages. When installing Mint, the situation gets worse. Could someone help me figure out if this is due to a faulty processor or another reason? Thank you for your time!
I confirmed it too; inserting the 8100 restored functionality on the motherboard, and it also appears in Mint version.

It seems like the system keeps failing, so the CPU might be damaged. Each time I attempt to run memtest 86 on SMP it restarts.
It seems the CPU is either badly damaged or malfunctioning. I’d check for a refund, considering it’s a 9th generation Intel chip—likely a second or third hand. Still, there’s hope. If the BIOS lets you disable cores individually, you might be able to bypass the issue by turning off one core and trying Linux. It could be just a single faulty core.
My system allowed me to reach the BIOS menu, though it becomes confusing during Windows or Linux installations. I plan to disable the core settings to test if that resolves the issue.
