Running I7-4790K at higher speeds using Cosair H100i GTX Extreme
I'm just starting out with CPU overclocking and would appreciate some guidance. I'm curious if it's possible to push the processor to 4.5Ghz on that cooler, or even higher if anyone has suggestions. Thanks!

Build details:
Mobo: MSI Z97S Sli Krait Edition
CPU: intel i7-4790k
Cooler: cosair gtx H100i gtx extreme
PSU: Evga SUPERNOVA 850w Gold certified 80+ powers up ply
GPU: Galax gtx 980ti Hall Of Fame
The main considerations are: good motherboard, good cooler, CPU silicon quality. With this setup, 4.6 Ghz should be achievable and 4.7 Ghz might work as well. Just make sure your CPU voltage stays at or below 1.31V to protect its lifespan.

Overclocking depends on three main aspects:
A good motherboard
A decent cooler
CPU silicon selection.
With your setup, reaching 4.6 Ghz should be straightforward. 4.7 Ghz is also feasible.
Make sure you stay within the 1.31V limit for the CPU VCore—keeping it under or equal to that won’t harm the chip much.
Thanks a lot!
