Hello everyone. I'm using a HP laptop with Windows 10 pre-installed, which has a 250GB SSD. I'm exploring Linux and have tried WSL, but I want to try the graphical version of a Linux OS. I've heard some discussions suggesting that dual booting on an SSD might shorten its lifespan. Could you clarify this for me?

The chances of damaging the SSD's lifespan are very low. It seems unlikely someone would warn against it, but that’s not accurate. The main concern would be weak garbage collection in older drives or lack of TRIM support in certain Ubuntu versions. Otherwise, dual booting won’t affect storage performance or durability.

Dual booting on an SSD is acceptable and won’t shorten its life. But if you’re concerned about virtualising it in Windows with Virtualbox (just the laptop’s specs matter), that’s fine too.
