Running at a pace that's not optimal for the situation
I just added 16 gb of new RAM (same brand and speed). I checked Task Manager and noticed it's running at 2400MHz instead of the expected 3200. The system has 32 GB total, including a Ryzen 7 5800x RX 6600 500W PSU (probably Windows 10 on an SSD).
I've always relied on TM to measure RAM frequencies, and it consistently gave accurate results. It seems checking with CPU-Z adds extra confidence.
CPU speed is accurate according to Task Manager, but there might be variations based on Windows version and hardware setup (a known long-standing issue). It’s likely running around 2400 unless XMP was disabled in BIOS. Make sure XMP is enabled in BIOS, set it to your RAM’s rated speed, then click "save & exit" to apply the changes and restart.
It's generally accurate about 90% of the time, though I've encountered cases where CPU and RAM overclocking don't hold up well. I remember seeing a screenshot suggesting my CPU was running over 43GHz when it was actually around 4.1GHz. There were also instances where XMP settings appeared to be off even though they were enabled. While it can happen occasionally, it's not reliable enough to fully depend on.
