Hello, you're thinking about creating your own TV box to connect to the internet and stream content. That's an interesting idea! It seems possible to run a mobile version of Android on a Raspberry Pi, though it would require some setup and understanding of the hardware. Let me know if you'd like more details! Thanks! Zack

It's likely you can, yet there are reasons to prefer alternatives. Options like Ubuntu Desktop or other media centers offer distinct features that might better suit your needs.

There are several approaches being explored. Some users are adjusting settings for Android x86 compatibility, while others are testing Chromium variations. The ARM Screen support remains inconsistent, and Wi-Fi functionality is similarly unreliable. Alternatives like Kodi, OpenLEC, and Raspberry Pi are working well with VLC for media playback. Web access is decent, though Netflix isn’t available on Linux as far as I know.

For running Android avoid a Raspberry Pi and opt for an ODroid device. I own several of them and they perform well; the Android compatibility is excellent and they connect seamlessly with my TVs and Wi-Fi adapters. If you need a device similar to a Raspberry Pi in price but more capable, choose an ODroid C1, C1+, or C2, or consider an eMMC card preloaded with Android.
