As the title suggests, when launching CounterStrike: GO, a black screen appears briefly before it launches. If you attempt to start it again, it will indicate that it’s already running. Checking the task bar shows it in background processes. Closing it and trying once more often leads to repeated failures. Restarting helps only temporarily, usually resolving the issue for a short time before it crashes or freezes again. I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10 for a day; CSGO worked well then but later I switched back to Windows 8, where the problem returned. I’ve uninstalled and re-downloaded the game without success, checked driver integrity, and looked for updates on my graphics card drivers, but I’m still unsure what to do next. This game means a lot to me. Please assist!

Open Task Manager, navigate to the details section, look for processes linked to CS:GO, close the process tree, and attempt to start it again. This occasionally occurs with certain games, and sometimes another process remains active.

Consider displaying your process list if it helps clarify your situation, even without obvious related sources.
