I recall a few players being suspended for VAC during a recent live ESL game. The specific player and team aren’t clear to me.

Organizations shouldn't accept known cheaters. VAC bans still exclude players from all Valve-sponsored events. A private group can allow cheaters in tournaments, but it seems late to change this policy. If ESL hosts a big event again, Valve will likely keep the cheaters out.
