I see, your GPU runs at 50 watts under load but stays at the same frequency, even though you think it should drop to 8 watts when idle. That’s unusual since lower power usually means less heat and a different idle state.

there's idle, and there's "idle". i can already tell you you arent gonna see 8w in any realistic scenario. about the clock speed: something is keeping it pinned high. might be an application being fussy with draw calls, might be an oddity with your display setup. sometimes it gets resolved with reinstalling the driver (just choose 'clean installation' in the nvidia driver installer), sometimes it just sticks and that's the end of it. having that said... if you're worried about power draw, learn to turn off your pc when you arent using it. that's much larger savings than the difference between power states in the few hours that may actually apply.

Consider removing drivers first, then reinstalling or updating them. This ensures compatibility after downloading from NVIDIA.
