RTX 3090 struggles to distribute processing capacity during heavy usage.
Hey there, I've been using an RTX 3090 for a while now. Recently it's started behaving oddly. It runs smoothly when not under heavy load, but when pushing it to its limits, other apps lag behind. I rely heavily on creative software that uses real-time rendering, and these programs used to run efficiently without hogging resources. Now they seem to be siphoning power from more important tasks. I'm puzzled since the problem didn't appear just a week ago. This affects my workflow a lot—even my mouse starts to slow down. I've updated drivers, but nothing's working. My system is current, and I've restarted several times. The BIOS is fresh, and I've tried different power supplies. Any suggestions would be super helpful!
It only occurs when the GPU reaches full capacity. My CPU activity has been inconsistent, and whenever I run demanding programs like Cinebench or others that push my CPU limits, my computer also becomes sluggish in the same manner. I haven’t experienced as many CPU issues compared to my CPU maxing out, and most of the software I use, though very CPU-heavy, doesn’t trigger full CPU usage in Task Manager. I’ve observed occasionally that certain background windows consume over 30% of my CPU, especially after upgrading my RAM, which seems to keep more resources active even when idle. I’m not sure if these are connected, but I thought it would be helpful to mention them. I’ll check the Event Viewer to look for any useful insights. Thanks a lot!
