Hello everyone, I’m facing a really strange crashing problem with GTA V. A few months ago I played smoothly on a 1660 Super, but now upgrading my GPU has caused the game to frequently crash after just a few seconds or even longer sessions. When I launch the game via Steam (or R* launcher), I can play for anywhere from 10 seconds to 15 minutes before it suddenly ends. After that, the desktop freezes. My setup includes an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, a gaming RTX 3070 Ti, and a 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB drive. I’ve lowered the temperature settings for better performance but disabled hardware acceleration and other overlays without success. I even reinstalled Windows completely to try and fix it. The Event Viewer logs don’t show any errors either. I’m using the latest drivers and still can’t get the game running smoothly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It might be an inconsistent clock speed. Did you attempt to run a standard TDP value? How is your CPU being cooled? What is your case and heat sink?

Failed to make an impact, ended again within three minutes in single-player mode.

As discussed earlier, I attempted to run the CPU without adjusting the TDP, but it didn’t make a difference. My setup includes the Corsair 4000D Airflow and a Noctua NH-U12A. The game is being played in borderless window mode on a 4K60Hz GSYNC monitor. I’ve experimented with various resolutions and turned off G-Sync, but nothing resolved the issue. I also tried different window modes—windowed, borderless windowed, and fullscreen. In fullscreen, instead of crashing, the game would freeze and play audio continuously until it was closed forcefully. There’s no other change that seems to help.

Using an older driver, which PSU do you have?

There are additional games available beyond just the hour-long test. Your 750W PSU should handle a 3070 Ti processor, assuming everything is properly installed. If the issue persists, it might point to a PSU failure rather than the hardware itself.

Yes, you can set up HWinfo to monitor temperature and wattage.
