RTX 3070 is great, but your CPU might be limiting performance
Zen 2 corresponds to the Ryzen 3000 series, while zen+ aligns with the Ryzen 2000 line. It's worth checking which APUs are compatible with specific boards, as PCPartPicker may need updates to its settings.
Others mentioned it's not about achieving higher FPS at 1440p, but rather maintaining similar performance with better visual quality. I wouldn't upgrade the GPU. If I could go higher resolution and maybe switch to a 5600x later when prices fall, that would help. It's possible RAM or drivers are limiting things, like with Clam 24.
This appears to be the main constraint, particularly if the GPU isn't near 90%. Check for another XMP profile—3600c24 seems incorrect. Consider testing the alternative setup.
Consider replacing your CPU with a Ryzen 7 5th Gen for better performance. A 2700+ 3070 is too slow.
Sure, I think it's time to go with the 5600x. If I can get used to 1440p eventually, I'll have the power to make it work. If not, I'll still be ready for my 1080p requirements—though I wonder what cyberpunk plans to bring next, hehe.
Did you adjust the DRAM speed in BIOS and set everything to Auto? That won’t work for DDR4-3600 with XMP enabled. CL16 or CL18 timings are more realistic, while CL14 fits better with high-density Samsung DRAM. The speed and latency of the RAM greatly affect Ryzen performance. Missing proper CPU support on the motherboard can also hurt performance. As before, TUF Gaming B550M-Plus doesn’t currently support Ryzen 2000 models. It’s unclear if all B550 boards (ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, etc.) will ever include Ryzen 5000 or 3000 series CPUs based on their listings. Also, AMD hasn’t officially confirmed B550 support for the 2000-series or older; they only mention Ryzen 3000 and 5000 series.
